Tamil Culture is an ancient dravidian culture, concentrated in South India, but rooted in the arts and ways of life of Tamil people in India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore and across the globe. Tamil culture is rich in literature, music, dance, theatre, folk arts, martial arts, painting, sculpture, and architecture (refer: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamil_culture)
Tamil language, 2,000 years old and spoken by over eight crore people, is one of the longest-surviving classical languages in the world and is described as "one of the great classical traditions and literatures of the world". Harvard University could soon house a department dedicated to Tamil (refer: harvardtamilchair.org).
The purpose of this organization is to bring together Tamil community in Southern California to plan and implement various activities such as teaching Tamil language, conducting events for adults and kids, to do social service and provide networking opportunities. This way we will get to know each other, serve the community and celebrate festivals together.

We all have come from homeland and have opted to stay in the US either for a while or permanently. We have brought with us a long and powerful heritage which was founded on Dharma, Honesty, Family values, and Social values. The life in the western world can be hectic and busy leading to slow erosion of cultural heritage we brought with us. We all know that working parents will have only limited time available to give the necessary time and opportunities for our children.
Southern California Tamil Organization is formed for us to work together and accomplish the following:
Short term goals
Long Term Goals
What is being presented is an ambitious program and with steady focus, we can accomplish these goals together. By working as a team with dedication, we can leave something wonderful of our children and next generation. Fortunately, we have the necessary religious and spiritual infrastructure already in place such as temples and missions. Let us make use of all that are available to us in making the Tamil Community Organization a viable and healthy organization that can contribute to the Tamil Community in OC/LA area.
Looking forward to your support and participation.
